Impulse was created among friends, around the kitchen counter of José Ramos, president of Impulse Global. It was 2009 and people were still dying of AIDS. Impulse began as a personal project that quickly became a global social movement.

Impulse Group Los Angeles is the founding chapter of this international group of volunteers and friends dedicated to promoting healthier sexual lifestyles among gay men. With support from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, we work to  to create campaigns, events, and online content to reach a all generations of gay men who live in a modern and rapidly evolving world..

Los Angeles is a city with a rich diversity of culture and racial and ethnic backgrounds. Around 31,000 cases have been diagnosed since the beginning of the epidemic in 1981. Thirty one years after,  new data show, not only HIV has steadily increasing but that cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis in California have reached an all-time high.

Men account for nearly 90% of new HIV/AIDS cases every year, and about 2,500 live in the West Holywood area.

We must end prejudices that prevent more people from being tested for HIV and directly discriminating against people living with HIV

Educating our peers about sexual health.
